Here at AR Metallizing, we are committed not only to providing our partners with sustainable packaging and labelling solutions, but also to responsible manufacturing practices when it comes to our own production.
An integrated approach to reducing emissions
As part of a long-term approach, we are currently implementing a plan to reduce emissions across our five manufacturing plants, located in Belgium, Italy, Brazil, Germany and the United States. This takes into account three different sources of greenhouse gas: that generated on site, indirect emissions (i.e the energy we purchase) and emissions generated by the supply chain, such as acquisition and transport of raw materials and waste management.

Our reduction goals are aligned on those of our shareholder Nissha alongside targets set by international organisations, including the European Union and the United Nations.
To do this, we’ve equipped four out of five of our facilities with photovoltaic power plants, enabling us to increase our use of sustainable electricity. At the same time, we’ve implemented new smart LED-based lighting systems, which use around 80% less energy than traditional light bulbs. We’re also piloting energy optimization schemes in specific plants, such as wind turbines, which supplement energy production in our Belgian facilities, and trigeneration, or combined heat and power (CHP), at our plant in Italy. Combined, these initiatives should help us save around 5000 tons of CO2 by 2022.
Conserving energy and promoting a sustainable approach are part of our core values. We seek to mitigate our environmental impact wherever possible, while helping our partners and customers do the same.
