Pantone’s Color of the Year is “brave and fearless” Viva Magenta

Here at Nissha Metallizing Solutions, we’re big fans of daring, experimental looks… Which is why we heartily approve of Pantone’s recently-announced 2023 Color of the Year, Viva Magenta. The red shade is a “brave and fearless… colour whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration that galvanises our spirit, helping us to build our inner strength,” according to Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. As the world emerges from nearly three years of pandemic, the vibrancy and warmth of this unconventional red brings a much-needed touch of cheer. 

 

And while you may think metallized paper is more suited to ethereal, shimmery looks, it can also make a great base for deeper, more velvety shades. Burgundy reds, forest greens and dark blues can be obtained using standard CMYK, and a soft matte finish can be associated with metallic show-through to highlight logos or graphic details.
