Why it’s easy to switch to metallized paper

Why it’s easy to switch to metallized paper

Whether it’s part of a long term sustainability strategy, or just a temporary shift for some seasonal sparkle and shimmer, switching packaging materials can be a daunting prospect.

Fortunately, it’s possible to make the move without compromising existing processes or needing to invest in costly machinery. Here’s what to expect when working with metallized paper for the first time:

1. Little to no disruption:

If you like paper, you’ll love metallized paper… because both behave in basically the same way. While many people are under the impression that metallized paper is similar to aluminium foil, that’s far from the case. Metallized paper’s vaporised aluminium layer is around 900 times thinner than foil, meaning it can be printed and converted using the same processes and machinery as other coated papers.

2. Design versatility:

Designers love working with metallized paper, as it provides them with the versatility of paper, a material they’re familiar with, while offering the opportunity to create vibrant, eye-catching looks. Metallized paper can be used with a wide variety of conventional inks, and we provide our clients and their partners with ink advice as a standard feature.

3. Functionality:

Metallized paper offers performance and functionality that put it at the same level as many foil- and plastic-based alternatives. Its metallized coating provides a barrier against light, vapour and odour that make it ideal for food packaging applications among others.
